  • May 2023:  Dr. Mohammed Elbaz, Ph.D., the PIC-CVI-lab PI – has been named a Fellow of the Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (FSCMR)! This prestigious honor recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance.
  • December 2022: Two SCMR Travel Awards : Congratulations to PIC-CVI PhD students, Mehri Mehrnia and Thara Nallamothu, for each receiving competitive SCMR Travel Award for each of their accepted abstracts to present their work at the SCMR conference, in San Diego in January, 2023.
  • November, 2022: Four Accepted abstracts at SCMR 2023 spanning computational MRI of Cardiac Flow, Structure and Mechanics:  Our lab has four abstract accepted at the upcoming SCMR 2023 conference in San Diego.   • May 2022: American Heart Association (AHA) Student Scholarship Award. Congratulations to MD student in the lab, Siva Sreedhar, for being awarded a prestigious AHA Student Scholarships in Cardiovascular Disease Award. Siva’s project is on development and validation of new methods for reproducible 3D segmental cardiac strain mechanics from cardiac MRI.

  • February 2021: Dr. Elbaz’s new NIH/NHLBI R21 grant submission was scored favorably and ranked at the 14th percentile (a postdoc opening would be available on this project)
  • November 2020: Dr. Elbaz is awarded the 3-year American Heart Association (AHA) Transformational Project Award for the research proposal “4D Hemodynamic Signatures of Atrial Fibrillation, Ablation Efficacy and Risk of Stroke” with a top 1%tile rank.
  • September 2020: Thara Nallamothu, B.A. joins the PIC-CVI lab as a Ph.D. student from Northwestern Biomedical Engineering

  • July 2020: Dr. Elbaz’s grant proposal to the American Heart Association (AHA) Transformational Project Award receives an exceptional score of 0.22%tile i.e. ranking in the top 1% of 483 submitted grants.
  • February 2020: Dr. Elbaz is awarded a 2-year NIH/NHLBI grant for the project “4D Virtual Catheter (vCath) Assessment of Hemodynamic Pathways in Aortopathy Pathogenesis” – the project was ranked in the top 11%tile and awarded from the first submission

  • December 2019: Dr. Elbaz receives a 2-year Northwestern Sylvia Wolff Research Award for Arrhythmia Research for the research project “Left Atrial 4D Hemodynamic Signatures of Atrial Fibrillation”
